A big pile of rocks or something more significant

Drove north this morning through the fertile marmilla hills (which had some pretty ordinary barley crops and a few fields of artichokes). Not sure if agriculture is high on the list of Sardinian activities. My mission was to visit the most important archaeological site of Sardinia (I think I also said that yesterday about Noro!) the UNESCO heritage site of "Su Nuraxi". This solemn "Nuraghe" is the most representative of more than 7000 ancient stone castles, forts or houses built 3,500 years ago that dot the island. It is said that the ancient inhabitants used today's architectural techniques to create these unusual structures. To me from a distance it looked like a pile of rocks but on closer inspection (like inside) it was a pretty neat thing to see. It was one way in and one way out and typically there was a traffic jam of people both ways!

For lunch today I drove across to Portoscuso for some deep fried mussels. Delicious...BTW I ate in the Byron Bay cafe and it wasn't vegan!!!
