Left Seaton Castle this morning after a great stay in Whitby. Last nights dinner was some of the best fish and chips I have had on this trip. First stop was Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds - One of the best preserved Cistercian monasteries in the country. Inhabited by Monks from 1152 (that's old) until booted out by Henry 8th in 1536. It was freezing, cold, wet and miserable today, so perfect for checking out some old ruins. Then onto another over the top house called Kedleston Hall which showcases the power of art and design. Built by Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Baron Scarsdale, in 1759 to innovative designs by the young Robert Adam, the Hall was intended to pay homage to ancient Greece and Rome. It also had an amazing collection of stuff he collected from Asia and India (which I suspect they will want back some day!) A highlight was finding the tusks of Abu the elephant from Ashtons circus, sweet revenge.
