Ah Provence!!

Today was spent exploring Provence (the northern half or Vaucluse area at least!) and went to the top of Mont Ventoux which at 1,909 metres (6,263 ft), is the highest peak in Provence. It is nicknamed the "The Bald Mountain" and most of the world knows it as one of the greatest mountain stages of the Tour De France. Although geologically part of the Alps, the top of the mountain is bare limestone without vegetation or trees. The white limestone on the mountain's barren peak means it appears from a distance to be snow-capped all year round and still had some snow on it today. There were tons of people in lycra attempting to reach the top today on the bikes but I drove and felt sorry for them.

I also visited a number of medieval villages, that provided fantastic views over the valleys. The fields are full of yellow and red flowers (poppies), the grapes were all at bud burst and the scenery was stunning. A couple of villages were Crestet and Seguret are only a few kilometres from where I am staying, which also has its own medieval village, roman bridge and roman ruins. Early finish today as a big thunderstorm rolled in at about 3pm.
