France's oldest city as well as one of Europe's oldest continuously inhabited settlements. I was warned before coming here that it was a city with some problems. But in my short time here I have been impressed by what seems to be a multicultural tolerance. The people are friendly, the scenery quite stunning and the food delicious. A lot of the city centre is narrow alleys with steep streets and the walls covered in graffiti. However the graffiti has become "artwork like" in places (a bit like that lane in Melbourne). The weekend was spent catching up on laundry (getting ready for Spain!), haircut, and wandering through town and the harbour marina. I am staying in a fantastic AirBnb with a magical view over the old forts and marina. Today for lunch were some Normandy oysters and white wine followed by a mango sorbet. There is a lot more to see and do here, so I will be back one day. Tomorrow I get an early train for the 4 1/2 hour trip to Barcelona.
