Another day yesterday working at Margaret's and Simon's farm, before getting a short train trip to Bristol, where I am spending my last weekend of my 2024 European adventure. Today I headed to Severn Beach and stupidly thought I might have a swim so took my speedos. the beach was once a thriving seaside resort with chalets, funfair, boating lake and an outdoor swimming pool called Blue Lagoon. However I had one glimpse over the sea wall overlooking a muddy brown beach, the sea a colour of milky coffee to decide to move on. The river Severn has the second highest tidal range in the world (up to 15m). I then drove to Bristol's most famous landmark "The Clifton Suspension Bridge" which is a 100m high suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon and opened in 1864. It hosted the world's first official bungee jump in 1979 by members of the University of Oxford Dangerous Sports Club. Bristol is a very beautiful city, full of stunning outdoor areas and an interesting riverside area. Tomorrow I head to Bath for a night then back here on Monday.
