Count Dracula and huge seagulls

Last night I had one of the best roast beef and pudding dinners in a long time. The Yorkshire pudding was about the size of a soccer ball! The beef was nearly as good as Simon's meal in London!!

Today was spent exploring Whitby and its surrounds. Whitby has some of the biggest seagulls I have ever seen. But I can definitely recommend a visit here (apart from the logical connection to Cook). Checked out the ruins of the Abbey which was the catalyst for Robert Stokes Dracula book. The novel Dracula was published in 1897 and tells the story about a vampire attempting to move to England. In 1890 Stoker arrived in Whitby, it is believed the windswept headlands, the dramatic abbey ruins and swooping bats all helped inspire the novel. Visited Robin Hood Bay and had a decent walk down to the beach (twice, as I left my phone in the car) It was about 40 floors so gave my stents a good workout. Lucky they worked as the defibrillator was broken at the top of the climb. Drove to Scarborough for a look. Then back to Whitby to visit the Cook museum, which funnily enough had a whole room dedicated to his visit to South Georgia. I offered to lend them some better pics! Whitby is a great walk around town so managed another 14K steps. Tomorrow start back to London then onto Belgium/France on Friday.

Another fabulous day John. Looks like superb weather. Bit worried about that defibrillator for some unlucky wretch!
