Delay - What delay??

Sunday 2nd July was our final day on Scenic Eclipse 2, however we were told that there was going to be a slight delay with our charter flight due to the weather in Oslo. So it was a morning spent in the hot tup with some beers. Finally after lunch we were given a 2 hour bus tour of Longyearbyen a very small coal-mining town on Spitsbergen Island, in Norway's Svalbard archipelago. The modern Svalbard Museum chronicles the region’s natural and cultural history. It includes a stuffed polar bear, and was pretty boring. The town itself was really dusty from the coal dust but then we went to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault (which was closed to the public). This is a back up seed vault - every country has its own but each of them can store backups of important food crop and fruit tree seeds here. It's a 140 meter tunnel dug into a mountain that's kept at -18° C to preserve seeds. Finally about 7pm we left on the plane to Oslo and I arrived at my Hotel (which is super flash) at nearly midnight. A word of warning that the Oslo airport is 50km from the city....
