What a great place Copenhagen is - The Danes have a saying called Hygge (pronounced Hooga) which means to just relax and enjoy life and that's all they seem to do. Everything runs here at a pretty slow pace. People politely queue up for stuff, no one pushes in, and the service is very friendly, cyclists actually indicate with their arms what they intend to do, the pedestrians even obey the traffic lights. I guess when you spend so long hibernating over winter when the weather is this good you may as well enjoy it! So today was another 20K steps just wandering around aimlessly (Flanuer), then sitting in the sun (Hygge). This city lends itself to getting lost because you always seem to end up somewhere interesting. Started out at the markets in Torvehallerne eating a cinnamon roll sitting on a reindeer skin!! From there it was a short walk to the Rosenberg Castle, via the Round Tower and the Botanic Gardens (which happened to have some great statues including one of the worlds shortest man!!). I checked out where my niece (and god-daughter) will be living and studying in a few week time. Ended up at the Amalienberg Palace - which is actually four identical massive buildings with huge doors and home to the royal family. More aimless wandering and found another home of Hans Christian Anderson, then came across the Cathedral which had some terrific statues (some of the best I've seen). All together a great day of doing nothing.
