Yesterday was Coronation day and it poured all day so spent the day in front of the telly watching the coronation and then some rugby in the afternoon. Today was kind of sunny so I set off this morning for the Borough Markets in the Southwark area of London but promoted as Bankside for all the tourists!! On the way there I visited the Tate Britain (art gallery). The first display was a bunch of 44 gallon drums with telephones in them so I left and continued my walk! Went past the National Covid Wall on the banks of the Thames which is obviously a new thing but was a reminder of the last two plus years.... The Borough Markets area is an area of London I have never visited and was well worth the walk. The crowds were massive and the food stores pretty interesting. Right in the same area is a funny museum called "The Clink - Prison Museum" which cost £8. Was worth it alone to discover the unique ways people could be tortured (including the Spanish donkey!!). Then walked past the Shakespeare Globe theatre then onto St Pauls Cathedral. It was then my walk took on a feeling of ground hog day from my first visit to London in 1984!. Fleet Street however was totally different from those days! It was then back down the Strand, Trafalgar Square then onto the Grenadier for a pint, via a very crowded Buckingham Palace. Then I decided to walk back to M&S's. Was very excited that today I broke all the records so for this trip: A massive 34,000 steps and 27 kms.
