Have I just visited Ireland's most stunning city?

Spent this morning discovering Killkenny - which I rate as one of the most attractive cities I have visited in Ireland. The city is home to one of the most recognisable landmarks in the country: the 12th-century Kilkenny Castle, but I enjoyed the meandering lanes and surprisingly, I really enjoyed the Castle Yard, which is where traditional tradesman work on producing Irish crafts. I met an interesting character there - Desmond Byrne, who has been making hand-wrought silver pieces on site since 1968. He makes a lot of the silver trophies for major events including the trophy awarded annually to the winners of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. He told me it took him 500 hours of work to make. I have attached a pic of the cup below! Such an interesting morning. But the day was about to get a whole lot better as I made my way to Cashel. The Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland’s most spectacular and most visited tourist attractions. The legend says that the rock was formed when Satan bit a chunk of Devils Mountain (25 miles away) and spat it out as he flew over Cashel! Set on a dramatic outcrop of limestone, the Rock possesses the most impressive cluster of medieval buildings in Ireland. Among the monuments to be found there is a round tower, a high cross, a Romanesque chapel, a Gothic cathedral, an abbey, the Hall of the Vicars Choral and a fifteenth-century Tower House. It reminded me of Mont St Michael in France, but without the roof. It was very spectacular. It was a great way to finish my adventures in Ireland. Tomorrow I head back to the UK for a few days.
