As I walked around in ever decreasing circles, as more and more of London was fenced off for tomorrow's coronation, you could sense that the mood is sensational. Everywhere you go people are laughing and chatting and generally having a great time, even though the weather this morning was pretty bad. The popular viewpoints were three to four layers deep by 11am and its seems that the security has increased by the same amount. At one stage King Charles did a lap down to Mall and the crowd went wild. It was pretty funny as I don't think anyone actually saw him. Visited the scene of the coronation at Westminster and the media presence is huge. In fact every where you go there are people being interviewed by all sorts of different media outlets. Big highlight today was when the King drove past on his way to a Commonwealth meeting at Marlborough house. He drove right passed me and gave me a wave.
The real reason I am in London this weekend was for Margaret's birthday yesterday. Dinner was a terrific piece of rump steak but the highlight was the desert "gateau's" (cakes) that had been shipped over from Paris that morning courtesy of my chiller bag. Absolutely delicious.
"And yet I love him till he die", doesn't quite fit the rest of Menzies Longfellow quote, maybe another bit of literature being modernised.
