It's a miracle - sort of....

One of the fun things about just wandering around is that you can find some pretty amazing places and today was one of those days! The blabla lift from San Sebastian to Biarritz was just a bus (I was told sometimes they use cars for the transport) whatever, it was a cheap as chips, so if I get the chance I'll use them again. Once I collected my hybrid car (Alice will be happy) I began the 2 /12 hour drive north east to my overnight stop of Casteljaloux which kind of reminded me of Walgett! But on the way I saw a sign that said "St Vincent De Paul", so, as you do, I took the turnoff and found in the middle of nowhere (near the Notre-Dames-de-Buglose Chapel) the fountain of miracles. In 1620, a shepherd, having noticed that one of his oxen was licking an object, discovered the statue of the Virgin. In order to transport it to the town church, the statue was hitched to the oxen, which refused to pull it and remained where they were. This moment is a sign of God’s will. It was then decided to build a chapel on this location. Next to it a miracle spring gushes out. There were already nineteen miracles of healing in 1662. Today, there are around sixty miracles. I decided to give it a try and splashed some of the miracle water on my sore back - and hallelujah the pain stopped.... The water is also supposed to cure intestinal problems. My next stop was the birthplace of St Vincent De Paul. The house and room he was born in (1581) is preserved and they changed the name of the town from Ranquine to St Vincent De Paul. What was kind of weird is that they have a statue of him looking out the window as you arrive!
