Je parle francais

Today I visited the Dunkerque war museum (which was fantastic) and learnt all about operation Dynamo (€8 entry). I had no idea that the time frame (a few days at the end of May 1940) was so tight, and that Churchill changed his mind late in the day to also evacuate the French and Belgium troops trapped in the last few blocks of the town. Over 80% of the town was destroyed by the Germans or the allies so Dunkirk doesn't have a lot of historical buildings. Went for a walk along the beach where the troops were evacuated, although it was freezing cold and so windy. This afternoon watched the Tahs get beaten again, although they played a lot better. Three yellow cards didn't help. Tonight had a Flemish pizza thing called a flammekueche at the 3 Brasseurs. It was delicious but the highlight was to have a conversation in french (sort of!!) with a lovely couple Alvin & Audrey. Thanks goodness for Google Translate.... Tomorrow off to Ypres and then head south for some warm weather.
