On the road to Oslo

Today caught the Eurostar to Brussels, and then grabbed a train to Bruges in Flanders. The Eurostar motors along at 300km per hour so the trip London to Brussels takes all of two hours. Hardly had a chance to watch Netflix so listened to an episode of Roy & HG. Yesterday was my last day in the UK, so it was spent at Bushes Farm. I was supposed to spend the day ploughing the orchard, but the rotary hoe had major hydraulic problems so instead I chopped some holes in the roof and walls of the old house and inhaled lung fulls of dirt from the 15th century. Can't wait to see the finished results when the renovations are completed. Also looking forward to being invited back to the expected house warming party. Last night had a farewell dinner at a local pub with M&S and Richard.

Bruges is the home of the worlds first ever stock exchange which opened in 1309 and is sometimes referred to as "The Venice of the North". It attracts over 8 million tourists annually. The Basilica is quite amazing but I thought the best attraction so far is "The Basilica of the Holy Blood", which was a tiny chapel that houses a cloth stained with the actual blood of Christ!! The vial is decorated with gold and there is an old bloke watching over it, wearing gold chains, who looks like he is dead. Can't wait to see more of Bruges tomorrow.
