Sardinia throws up one more surprise!

Well two actually! The first occurred last Sunday night when a dodgy mushroom pizza went to work. At first I thought it was mushroom poisoning, but having lived through the night (just) I knew I was going to survive. As a result I tenderly spent the early part of this week just driving around Olbia and spending a fair bit of time beside the pool. This part of Sardinia is known as the Costa Smeralda and is famous for its beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal clear water (sound familiar!). I didn't spend too much time in the town as there were at least 3 large cruise ships in port so the place was packed (and it's not yet peak season).

I then dropped the car (after nearly 2,500km) which is a lot for an island only 270km tall by 145km wide! and caught the near empty bus to my second surprise which was the town of Santa Teresa Gallura. This is a relatively young touristy village and is stunning. Situated on a high headland with roads leading down to the sea you can see my next destination Corsica. Again in Sardinia you just don't know what you are going to get as the drive to the town and it's surrounds were nothing to write about but when you get here it is amazing. To top it all off I am staying in a beautiful B&B located about 5 minutes walk from the bus stop (today) the ferry (Friday) and the old town. Tomorrow will be my last full day in Sardinia.
