Arrived in Oslo this afternoon after a "typical" Swedish train journey. They might be able to build a car but their train system is hopeless. I had been warned that the 10.15 to Oslo was famously unreliable so I was not surprised that it was cancelled. What did surprise me was the chaos that resulted. A bus to Norway via nowheresville, then people unloading from the bus at the same time as people were getting on. Anyhow, got to Oslo after getting on a efficient Norwegian train. The country side in Norway is so pretty compared to Sweden. Fiords and vegetable farms, with a fruit tree farm every now and then. Today was supposed to be the boring bit as tomorrow I get the scenic train to Bergen. Met some nice people on the train which was packed with tiny teenagers going to Oslo for some sort of concert. Supposedly 40,000 in town. Also in town were thousands of Scots packing out the bars and streets getting ready for a game of soccer tomorrow between Norway and Scotland. The weather is unbelievable - 31'C at 4pm - a heat wave. Hard to believe that next week I'll be in the Arctic circle. Had a quick look around Oslo this afternoon and thought that the sauna's on the seaside would not be getting much of a workout today. The idea being that you have a sauna then jump into the sea!!! Looking forward to coming back here in a few weeks time.
Soccer balls and screaming teenagers??
