Well I did mention that this is one of the worst AirBnb's I have stayed in. Woken this morning at 5am due to the street noise, the one tiny towel provided was in its previous life a tee towel, a washing machine that doesn't wash and I can hear every footstep from the neighbours above. AirBnB's are now as expensive as hotels and you stay in them because you have access to washing machines and kitchens. If these don't stack up there is no reason to use AirBnB. I dread what will happen during the rugby world cup and olympics.
It's great to be back in Lyon after so many years, however it has changed a lot. There is so much poverty (with street beggars). Parts of the city that I remember being so beautiful are now full of graffiti and kebab shops and they have plonked a huge Westfield right in the middle of town. But I did manage to give my stents a really good workout today when I walked up the 800+ steps to the La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière for a great view over the rivers and city. If fact, today I smashed out 22,000 steps and nearly 17km. The old town of Lyon still is attractive and it is a great town for walking.
