That's right, today I am in Bath, founded by the Romans as a thermal spa. Bath became an important centre of the wool industry in the Middle Ages. But my drive here was pretty interesting too. It is usually a 25 minute drive from Bristol but I managed to take about 3 hours via some beautiful quaint English villages such as Pensford and then onto the Stanton Drew Stone Circles - One of the largest megalithic complexes in England from 3000BC which local legend holds is a wedding party turned to stone by the Devil. The largest circle, funnily enough called the Great Circle, is 113 metres in diameter, making it one of the largest stone circles in the country. However most of the stones have fallen over! Bath is well worth the visit, however it is a tourist city and was absolutely heaving today. The architecture and Roman remains are amazing (although 28pounds to see an old pool was excessive) The Pulteney Weir and Bridge (one of only four bridges worldwide with shops across the full span on both sides) is also beautiful. Bath is very walkable, so apart from the expensive Roman baths most of the city is picture postcard perfect! Staying tonight in a cute BnB right next to the city centre!
