The most successful country in the Eurovision song contest??

You guessed it - I am now in Ireland, for the next 10 days. Yesterday was spent visiting Windsor Castle (the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world) with my newish grand-nephew Ted and the rest of the English clan. It was a great day out - the castle has been on my bucket list since they opened it to the public during my visit to the UK last year. On the way there we walked over a working clock, fixed within the pavement, The pavement clock of Windsor is one of a kind in Britain, and if you level your ear to the footpath you can hear the tick-tock of its mechanism emanating from below. Windsor Castle was very, very crowded, but it is still worthwhile to see, especially St George's Hall which had to be rebuilt after the fire of 1992, and features a ceiling studded with the coats of arms of every single Knight of the Garter since the order was founded in 1348. After a cleansing ale at the Two Brewers pub and a picnic lunch on the long road, we made our way back to London via the butchery at the Royal Farm shop at Windsor to grab some royal rump steak and royal mushrooms for a BBQ dinner.

Got the train to Heathrow (the New Elizabeth Line via a mangey fox) and arrived in Cork, a home to rugged coastline, wildflower-studded mountains, and stones with magical properties. Known as the “Rebel County,” Cork is the largest and southernmost county in Ireland and holds the country's second-largest city. Can't wait to start exploring tomorrow.
