Collected the car from Avis today (but they have moved their office since I made the booking). Was supposed to get a jeep but ended up getting possibly the biggest car in Sicily. Will be handy for all the narrow roads. After about 30 minutes of plugging all the gadgets in and working out how to get the Navman working, I set off for Ragusa. In Sicily the biggest car always wins on the roundabouts, so the strategy is just gun it and hope everyone else gets out of the way. Noto is supposed to be one of the prettiest cities in Italy, but it took me about 3 laps of the town to find a park. Most of the old part of the city has been rebuild since an earthquake but it was quite a nice place to wander around. Then off to Modica which is another town built on a big hill. Modica is famous for its chocolate so I bought some €2. Its also famous for its medical museum where they found a solution for syphilis. Then onto Ragusa which wins the award for a town on a hill. There must have been 35,000 steps. I ended up getting totally lost and grabbed the bus back to the top of the hill. Had a fantastic meal of lamb chops.
