There is local and then there is local!!!

Today I achieved something amazing. I actually walked more km's than my meal and wine made for my dinner.... Let me explain: Sete is a very pretty town and is known as “Venice of the Languedoc” for its canal network. So today I visited the canals, bridges, markets and beaches to check it out. Managed to run up 12.8 kilometres. Tonight at dinner I had some fresh oysters from Bouzigues (about 7kms), the wine was from Meze (about 10kms), the mussels from Étang de Thau (about 4kms). No food miles for me!!

Apart from the food, Sete is a great place to visit. The Mediterranean sea here is sensational, like most places, but the canals and streets are worth discovering. They are rebuilding the main square right now but even so the town is very pretty. The hardest thing is deciding where to eat as there must be hundreds of restaurants. I also found the French people here quite friendly and up for a "chat" which is supposedly weird for the south of France. Generally when I try to talk to them in my version of French, they grin and nod and say they know a little English..... Managed to get another haircut today!
