With four exhibition halls, over ninety aircraft, more than 2 million records, and 30 thousand artefacts, the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Ilchester is Europe's largest naval aviation museum. It is also home to the first British Concorde, and a really fun Aircraft Carrier Experience - which places you on the deck of a carrier! So it was a no brainer to drive down from Bath this morning for a visit. The museum is also hosting the 40th Anniversary Falklands Conflict exhibition, so it was interesting to see the Falklands war through the eyes of those who served. (less Prince Andrew of course!). Three hours later it was time to drive back to Bristol, and on the way back I stopped for lunch in the town of Street, Somerset which turned out it is where Clark Shoes was founded in 1825 and is still headquartered today. We all remember Clark school shoes but they were also responsible for the Desert boot. I found out later that there is the Clark Shoes museum in Street, so might have to go back for another visit! Then is was a short drive down the road to Glastonbury for a look and I was immediately transferred back in Byron Bay with all the crystal shops and mystical stuff. Not too sure how much business the butcher does in the main street as I think the vegan percentage would be very high in this town. Arrived back in Bristol for an afternoon walk around town which is undergoing a major transformation with so many building works.
