This morning I collected my MG sports SUV from Avis (although I put the location pin of the depot in the wrong spot) so 12,000 steps later I left the car yard heading to Ely a cathedral city in the East Cambridgeshire about 14 miles northeast of Cambridge. The cathedral has its origins in AD 672 when St Etheldreda built Ely Abbey. The present building dates back to 1083. It was absolutely magnificent and well worth the €10 entry fee. Have attached some pics below but its hard to tell that its 66 metres tall and 164 meters long. It is longer than some of England's biggest cathedrals, including St Paul's. Went afterward to the home of Oliver Cromwell which was kind of tacky but interesting in a weird way. Only cost €6.50. Tonight staying in a cute pub near Stamford.
