Wow - How good is Barcelona? Part 3

Today we knocked out 22,000 steps visiting the Marcat de la Boqueria for some lunch, just the usual pimientos de padron, iberia jamon, some beers and some sensational oysters, then wandered through the amazing old gothic town via the Cathedral, the oldest shop in Barcelona, the El Born Center for Culture and Memory where they have converted an old covered food market into an archeological dig. We also visited Lili's work place and snuck aboard her train (she is a train driver) ....In between all of this we visited a vegan restaurant (where I had a beer) then headed towards Barcelona beach via the port to see how things were progressing for the America's Cup. It was then a 4km walk back to my hotel.

Barcelona is one of the most magical towns I have ever visited. It is huge, walkable and so diverse. We avoided buying tickets today to all the museums and churches as it seemed pretty offensive to pay E10 to go inside another church. (Maybe the Catholics could sell a few paintings so that tourists didn't have to pay?) In France it is free to go inside a church! There are a huge number of tourists here but the city seems to be able to cope. Although there is some graffiti that says "tourist are a plague". The buildings are decorative and the ultra wide streets and boulevards with numerous cafe's are fantastic. You could easily spend a week or two here and not get bored. It's now time to do some Gaudi!
